Gregory Vajda led Hungarian Premiere of John Adams’ Nixon In China.

On September 22, 2024, Conductor Gregory Vajda led the Hungarian premiere of John Adams’ Nixon in China with the Hungarian State Opera at their new Eiffel Art Studios complex in Budapest. The production was directed by Andras Almasi-Toth and featured star bass-baritone Karoly Szemeredy as Richard Nixon, soprano Klara Kolonits as Pat Nixon, and tenor Zoltan Nyari as Mao Zedong with costumes by Richard Marton, set, lighting and video design by Sebastian Hannak, projections by Zsombor Czegledi and choreography by Eszter Lazar.  The full production is available on streaming at OperaVision through 29 March 2025.
